The academic services platform EduBirdie publishes its The best cities to live and study in abroad 2021 ranking, evaluating the 36 best cities to live and study in abroad.
 
In this report, Madrid is ranked the 4^th city best city in the world to live and study in (4^th/36), surpassing New York (5^th/36), Vienna (8^th/36), Hong Kong (11^th/36), Melbourne (17^th/36) or Rome (19^th/36), in a ranking led by London, Paris and Moscow.
The ranking is comprised of 8 areas which measure: the number of universities scoring the highest in the QS World University Rankings 2021, the mean Internet download speed, the number of international students, the number of Instagram posts mentioning each city, the number of bars and fast food restaurants, , the number of vegan restaurants and the estimated standard of living.
Madrid has earned the top position in the area which measures the mean Internet download speed, being ranked as the city with the best Internet connection in the world (1^st/36), surpassing Tokyo (2^nd/36), Hong Kong (3^rd/36), Seoul (4^th/36) and Milan (5^th/36).
